Waiter/ waitress: This is the most popular function in a restaurant and the one that most demands professionals from the owners — thousands of new positions are opened every year. To work as a waiter, there is no requirement to have prior experience, nor is there an age restriction. The waiter is responsible for servicing customers, providing information about the menu, taking orders and serving tables.

Host/hostess: The restaurant’s host/hostess, in addition to working in the food sector, can also work in the hotel business and is responsible for booking reservations and accommodating clients. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction during the consumption period.

For this, its activities are based on: supervising the work of the wait staff, planning the employees’ working hours, making sure that customers are served at the right time, organizing and managing the buffet, suggesting and presenting products to customers, as well as respond to all suggestions and complaints from consumers. Cashier: This administrative function is responsible for payments, receiving amounts, closing cash and issuing invoices. Generally, people who want to work in this type of position are asked for some experience in the field.

Chef: The chef is the professional responsible for organising the kitchen of hotels and restaurants and preparing menus. These plan the execution of the dish, pre-preparation, preparation, finishing, food quality and the methods used. Pastry chef: this chef is responsible for making the desserts served in the restaurant. To work in this profession you don’t need training. But, as this is a very technical aspect, it is recommended to take a course in pâtisserie – the French name for bakery cuisine specializing in cakes and sweets.

Bartender: This profession is present in bars, restaurants, clubs and even in services for parties and at home. The bartender is responsible for preparing cocktails and drinks. Some, to make preparation an attraction, use juggling techniques, magic and tricks. Furthermore, since they deal directly with the public, it is important that they are charismatic. Manager: This position is the one with the most demanding responsibilities within a restaurant. The manager’s main role is to ensure that the site works efficiently and profitably. For this, he is responsible for coordinating the entire team of employees and thus maintaining the performance, quality standards, health, and safety of the site. Becoming a manager does not necessarily require specific training, but experience, interpersonal skills and notions of running a business.

Maintenance personnel: One of the most important points for the success of a restaurant is impeccable hygiene. For this reason, the cleaning team is essential.
